We are a couple who eloped in Autumn 2025. We chose to have an elopement in Lake Como, with our daughter and witnesses. Just because an elopement is small doesn’t mean that there’s not a lot to think about, and we wanted to help other people who are eloping by sharing the details, both expected and unexpected.

Our elopement was a legal ceremony, meaning that we were legally married in Italy, and that this is recognised in the UK. It took some digging before we found that you can indeed get married in Italy, and the process was relatively lengthy but we managed it. We want to lay out the steps for UK citizens to get legally married in Italy, as it is possible, and of course, an absolute dream come true!
